Strategic Measurable Goals |

Through the alignment of the district's Strategic Plan, individual School
Improvement Plans, Individual Professional Development Plans, and School
Professional Development Plans, all entities in the district--School Board
members, district staff, and school-based personnel--should be able to
articulate the district's vision, mission, and values. The focus is the
same--increasing student achievement!
Goal 1
The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will
increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Critical Success Factors:
* Assign high-performing teachers to teach students performing below grade
level.
* Implement interventions for students below grade level, on grade level,
and above grade level.
* Develop and administer assessments to monitor student progress,
instructional pace, and appropriate level of instruction.
* Monitor student achievement and use that data as the basis for
instructional decisions.
* Involve families in supporting literacy at home.
Goal 2
The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT mathematics
will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Critical Success Factors:
* Assign high-performing teachers to teach students performing below grade
level.
* Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and provide an ongoing
mentoring program.
* Monitor student achievement and use that data as the basis for
instructional decisions.
* Design and implement schedules that best serve students' academic needs.
* Align mathematics curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment
instruments to maximize student achievement. |

Goal 3
Student performance on FCAT science will increase a minimum of 5 percentage
points. (Florida Department of Education will begin reporting FCAT level
scores 2005-2006.)
Critical Success Factors:
* Assign high-performing teachers to teach students performing below grade
level.
* Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and provide an ongoing
mentoring program.
* Align professional development with teacher needs as reflected by student
achievement data.
* Monitor student achievement and use that data as the basis for
instructional decisions.
* Monitor the alignment of the curriculum and instructional practices with
Sunshine State Standards.
Goal 4
The percentage of students achieving a score of 4.0 or higher on FCAT
Writing will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
Critical Success Factors:
* Assign high-performing teachers to teach students achieving below grade
level.
* Provide teacher training in writing to all subject area teachers to
reflect current standards and best practices.
* Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers to teach students performing
below grade level.
* Require writing in all subjects.
* Monitor student achievement and use that data as the basis for
instructional decisions.
* Provide writing curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment
instruments to maximize student achievement.
Goal 5
The district will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10
percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.
Critical Success Factors:
* Recruit and retain high-performing teachers to teach students who are
achieving below grade level or with special needs.
* Increase the number of under-represented students in advanced level
courses and programs and provide ongoing support to ensure student success.
* Design and implement program scheduling to meet the remediation and
enrichment needs of students.
* Provide staff development programs that match instructional delivery
strategies with diverse student achievement needs.
Goal 6
All schools in the district will be assigned a state grade of A, B, or C.
Critical Success Factors:
* Require accuracy of student data.
* Accomplish goals and critical success factors for goals 1-5.
